Wes Vann's 914a page
June 8, 2009
Here is a photo of the car when I first got it.
And here it is in it's current condition.
What am I planning on doing and why;
I want to build a 914 using an Audi 2.7 twin turbo engine and Audi/VW transaxle.
The reason for calling the page as "914a" is that the car will not be a Porsche 914 or even a 914 VW. It's going to be a 914 Audi.

Diary;
May 25, 2009; I did the write-up on installing rubber front bushings on the 911 front suspension.
May 12, 2009; I did the write-up on replacing the bearings within the steering column. I've been doing a whole bunch of things, but haven't written up about them. I've gotten the front half of the floor replaced. I found a 911 front end and did "clean-up" work on it. I rebuilt the steering rack (the next write-up).
March 28, 2009; I did the dual master cylinder with balance bar write-up. I've started cutting out the front half of the floor pan.
March 3, 2009; I finally got around to doing some of the write-ups. I need to do more!!! For the most part, I've been doing little projects on the car that are time related and don't cost much. The only purchase worth noting was that I located a transmission for it and paid $300. Being on a VERY limited budget sucks big time.
November 25, 2008; Not much has been happening (no money). I did play around with the rear brake set-up. I'm converting to 911 rear brakes and parking brake set-up. I also need to make the web site better laid out. Some stuff just isn't worth keeping.
August 29, 2008; After about 8 month, I finally have a floor and could sit in the car!! I updated the "rust diary".
August 1, 2008; Once again, I've not been updating this section. The flares are pretty much done as is most of the rust repair on the longitudinal. The firewall / bulkhead is now in place. Up next is replacing the floor.
March 13, 2008; I've not been updating this diary and I've got a lot done. Most of it is best termed as "prep work". That includes making up the work platform and also rear-suspension jigs. I've been cutting out items in the engine compartment that I know I don't need. Things like the four cylinder engine mounts. All of the cutting out of stuff is also so that I can figure out how bad the rust damage is.
February 9, 2008; Pulled out the engine and transmission. Started the process of figuring out what needs to be replaced in regards to "rust damage"
February 2, 2008; I welded on the front flares.
January 23, 2008; The fender flares showed up.
January 16, 2008; The car showed up. Registered it and got insurance (on a car that will be in the garage for a couple years).
December 24, 2007; I've got a set of steel fender flares on order. A group buy from Auto Atlanta. I don't have anything to put them on yet
